ABOUT ME
Think about your favorite summer of childhood. Maybe you think of old friends, people long in your past who may not even be in existence at this point. Maybe you think of places - I remember the fields and small forest just behind the trailer court we lived in for a few years. I remember the summer air, and I can picture exactly in my head the friends of my youth (some who I still consider best friends). We played a lot of baseball and basketball, built tree-forts, rode our bikes on the "bike trail" through the woods, hung out at the water-fort where water pooled up like a temporary pond after rainy days, had scavenger hunts, and we practiced our "martial arts" in the open fields. I remember the green flowing grass and oak, maples, and pines that scattered the area. I remember the warmest of summer days with the sun high overhead, and the insects making all their buzzing noises. Summer 1994. The best days of life. Just days filled with getting up to run outside and see what your friends were up to. Pure freedom and years of life left to look forward to. I only wish there were more real photographs from that time, not just what's in my memory. How long will I truly keep a nearly photographic memory of some of my favorite days of my youth? How long until the memories become distorted? Maybe they are already. Do I truly remember what it all looked like? Or is my mind embellishing some things? How long until I forget it all? How much have I already forgotten? This is the first and foremost reason I like to do photography. You never know when you want to look back through time. Human memory is mostly associative, so when I look back at a photograph of me and my buds from summer of '94 it brings back all the feelings of fun, freedom, and hope that we had in our youth. Just from one photograph. Beyond this, I enjoy photography because it gives me a way to show my reality - the version of the world that I see. I enjoy street photography, landscape/cityscape photography, and travel photography most of all. My photography is often an added reason to go see new things, places, and often end up meeting new people. I hope you like my work. -Adam
